Road connectivity to around 20 villages in Wajedu mandal remained snapped for the second consecutive day on Wednesday due to the submergence of a low-level causeway by a swollen forest stream near Cheekupalli in Bhadrachalam division.
The residents of several habitations surrounding Cheekupalli and the nearby gram panchayats in the mandal experienced severe hardships in commuting between Cheekupalli and Perur as the low-level causeway remained under a sheet of water for the second day. Some of the villagers reportedly crossed the swollen stream in country boats to reach their destinations.
Meanwhile, the water level in the Godavari at the temple town of Bhadrachalam has risen steadily on Wednesday following substantial inflows due to heavy downpour in the catchment area of the river.
Sources said that the water level in the river crossed 26 feet, around 17 feet below the first warning level of 43 feet, in the afternoon.
