School bus plunges into canal: 20 students injured

At least 20 students were injured when the school bus, in which they were travelling, fell into SRSP Irrigation Canal at Bojanapeta village of Peddapalli Mandal in Karimnagar District on Thursday.

Peddapalli Circle Inspector of Police P. Prashanth Reddy said that the bus belonging to St Ann’s High School was proceeding from Molasala village of the mandal to Peddapalli carrying the school students. The bus driver lost control while trying to avoid hitting an RTC bus which was coming in the opposite direction at a curve and fell into the SRSP Canal.

Twenty school students sustained injuries and the driver received suffered fracture of limbs. All the students have been admitted to the Peddapalli Area Hospital for treatment and all of them are out of danger, he added.
