All the five accused have been booked under the Nirbhaya Act.

In a macabre incident, a 16-year-old minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by five youths including a minor boy at Madras Tanda, a tribal hamlet in Tekulapalli mandal, on Thursday midnight.

The gruesome incident came to light following a complaint lodged by one of the close relatives of the girl with the Tekulapalli police on Saturday.

According to police sources, the girl boarded an autorickshaw of a youth known to her to reach home from a nearby locality late on Thursday evening.

The youth took her to a secluded place and called his four other friends over phone to the spot near the hamlet. They allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed about the incident to anyone.

The victim, after reportedly suffering in silence for one day, ultimately narrated her ordeal to one of her close relative, who in turn approached the police on Saturday.

When contacted, Tekulapalli Circle Inspector Raji Reddy said all the five accused have been booked under the Nirbhaya Act.

The victim has been shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Khammam for medical examination.
