16 villagers booked for indulging in violence

November 20, 2014 11:39 pm | Updated 11:39 pm IST - SANGAREDDY:

Cases were booked against sixteen persons on Thursday who allegedly resorted to violence at a public hearing at Peddamasanpally on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that the residents of seven villages in Medak district staged a dharna near the venue of the public hearing opposing setting up of a pharma company.

The protest turned violent with some of the villages setting ablaze the tent. Based on the complaint by a pharma company representative, Ramana Reddy, who alleged that the villagers had tried to kill him, the Toguta police registered cases against 16 villagers.
