The issues of separate Telangana and price rise on Tuesday rocked the Lok Sabha on the first day of the second part of the Budget Session of Parliament.

As soon as the House made obituary references to former members Dinesh Pratap Singh and N.K.P. Salve, Basudeb Acharia (CPI-M) and other members of Left parties were on their feet demanding suspension of Question Hour and a discussion on price rise.

Congress members from Telangana region rushed to the front rows, raised slogans and waved placards demanding a separate State.

Home Minister P.Chidambaram, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and Congress whip Ranee Narah persuaded the members to go back to their seats but they did not relent.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi as also Leader of the Lok Sabha Pranab Mukherjee were present in the House when the protests took place.

Members of the Left parties were also seen pressing for their notice for suspension be taken up in the House.

“I have received your notice. I will allow you to raise the issue during Zero Hour. Let the Question Hour continue,” Speaker Meira Kumar told the agitating members.

As the Telangana members continued to raise slogans, the Speaker adjourned the House till noon.
