District and sessions judge Anuja Prabhudesai on Friday dismissed an application moved by lawyers of Tarun Tejpal, accused in the sexual assault case, on Thursday seeking that his bail plea be heard “in camera”.

The court has now fixed the hearing of the application on January 4. Mr. Tejpal was present in the court on Friday.

Incidentally, Mr. Tejpal’s 12 days of extended judicial custody also ends on January 4 and he will be presented before the JMFC court here on that day.

Mr. Tejpal, Editor-in-Chief of Tehelka magazine, charged for sexual assault of a junior colleague during the ThinkFest event of his magazine held at a five star hotel in Bambolim in north Goa early last month, is presently in judicial custody in Sada sub-jail in Vasco in south Goa.

He was arrested on November 30 by the Crime Branch of Goa police after his anticipatory bail plea was dismissed by Ms. Prabhudesai.
