The investigators plan to question Mr. Tejpal once they record the victim’s statement and evaluate all evidence.
Tarun Tejpal, the former Tehelka Editor-in-Chief, on Monday moved the Delhi High Court seeking anticipatory bail apprehending arrest by the Goa police in the sexual assault case.
The application was mentioned by his lawyer in the Court of Justice G. S. Sistani, who posted the matter for hearing on Tuesday.
Mr. Tejpal has been accused of rape and outraging the modesty of the woman journalist at a five-star hotel in Goa. The Goa police have already recorded statements three colleagues of the victim. They have reportedly corroborated the charges levelled by the journalist in her email sent to the Managing Editor of the magazine, Shoma Chaudhary. The police have also recorded Ms. Chaudhary's statement and seized the hard disks, a laptop and an iPad used for communication between the victim and Mr. Chaudhary.
Mr. Tejpal apprehends his arrest as the investigating agency is all set to record statement of the victim before a magistrate. The police have so far not approached him for questioning.
