A 37-year-old man who allegedly raped his teenage daughter over a period of three months in a Mumbai suburb was arrested on a police complaint registered by his wife. A local court on Thursday sent Rashid Fenamullah Khan (37) to police custody for three days.

The 13-year-old girl is in a traumatised condition, the Powai police said on Friday.

Rashid has been booked under Sections 376 and 506 (II) of the Indian Penal Code for rape and criminal intimidation.

Salma Rashid Khan told the police that she had been unwell for the past few months and her husband would rape their daughter in front of her. She said she did not complain earlier fearing he would harm her and her daughter. “He would threaten her, she has told us. Both the accused and the victim were sent for medical examination on Thursday. Their medical reports are awaited,” the police said.

Rashid had allegedly raped the 6th Standard student at various times between July and September in the presence of his wife and their two other children, the police said.
