PTI Team Anna members display files containing evidence of corruption against 15 ministers serving in the UPA government, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, at a press conference in New Delhi on Saturday.

Team Anna on Tuesday tried to play down the differences amongst them and produced more documents to highlight the alleged role of Union Minister S.M. Krishna — when he was the Chief Minister of Karnataka — in de-reservation of forest land for mining by private corporations.

Even as Team Anna members Prashant Bhushan and Arvind Kejriwal produced documents, letters, Cabinets Notes etc. at a press conference here, the then Karnataka Lokayukta and core committee member of the team Santosh Hegde said in Bangalore that he did not find any material that implicated Mr. Krishna. He, however, added he had “nothing to say” on the team members' claim that they had more material in hand that needed to be investigated.

Team Anna has demanded the formation of a special investigation team to probe the role of the Prime Minister and 14 members of his Cabinet while corruption cases took place during their tenure and allegedly within their knowledge.

Barely had Team Anna lived down the charge that social activist Anna Hazare was not on the same page as them on targeting Dr. Singh, core committee member Mr. Hegde also distanced himself from the alleged comments that compared Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Shikandi, who was used as a shield by the Pandavas against the Kauravas.

Attempting to explain the issue, Mr. Bhushan said Mr. Hazare, who was touring Maharashtra, was not aware of the “whole matter” regarding the Prime Minister. “There are a large number of documents in English that have to be translated into Hindi for Mr. Hazare to go through them. This takes time.”

Another member of Team Anna said that initially it was believed Sriprakash Jaiswal was the Minister concerned when coal blocks were privatised, but it turned out that the Ministry was held by the Prime Minister during the period. According to them, they had written to all the accused Ministers earlier this month on the charges but none had replied, although Dr. Singh was not on the list then.

Mr. Hazare is reported to have said that he had not seen the documents against the Prime Minister and would seek clarification when he comes to Delhi early June.

At a separate press conference here, Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid said Mr. Hazare needed to be saved from his team.

“There is need to save Anna Hazare from these people as much as there is a need to save the country from corruption,” Mr. Khurshid said when asked about the fresh allegations made by Team Anna members against some Union Ministers.

The team fighting against corruption is an open and democratic organisation. They are
transparent and they are fighting against a massive machinery steeped in corruption.
India forgives corruption and Indians love to be cheated and exploited. Team Anna is
waging a war and their spirit has to be nurtured by all those who would like to see India
realising its full potential.

Some people say Team Anna is targeting Congress and not BJP. Well if you feel the BJP needs to be targeted as well, why don't you do something about it boss?Has Anna taken the contract for everything?
Are you not a citizen as well? Can you do 1/100th of what Team Anna is doing here? I find it apalling that paople talk about parliament and constitution and "institutions" as if everything is hunky dory. Mr.Yashwant Sinha, stop giving tickets to criminals, than talk about sanctity of parliament.Start collecting taxes from Business class as well, not just us salaried class, then talk about the supremacy of the constitution. What did you do as FM about under recovery of income tax?We all know how much tax Businesses eveywhere pay, so instead of baring your big teeth,do something relevant. Baba Ramdev should damn well use the kind of language that he uses, because that is
the kind of language that the Lalus and other sundry criminals of
Parliament deserve.Taking everyone for a ride on tax payers' money.

We need not dwell too much on the administrative efficiency of team
Anna. Let us just look at the material that they come up with and
encourage greater probity in public life. At a time like the present,
when there is just no one to question the actions of our ministers and
bureaucrats, we have a few brave people trying to do some good. It is
surprising and sad to see so many people, most of them arm chair
critics, criticising Team Anna for not having "one voice" and having a "holier than thou" attitude. Have these people tried to find out what the budget of their ward or panchayat is? Have these people tried to get information on how much has been spent on road and drain maintenance in their localities? Do these people have any idea as to the scale of corruption in everyday life? Do all these people pay all their taxes? Do they realise how hard it might be for a few honest people to give their all for a national level anti corruption crusade?

If our PM is honest then why he is silent on all those massive scams.
Why the hell is he covering all this nonsense. His silence means he has
somethings to hide. In our system a person his considered honest till he
dosnt get exposed.

Whether the PM has directly benefitted or not, thefact that questionable coal block allotment were amde when he held coal ministry means he owns total responsibility for the same - both directly as coal minister and indirectly as PM.
To castigate members of Team Anna as irresponsible in their aligation, as not united nor speaking in one voice and attributing motives as collective defense for Manmohan Singh is more irresponsible and dangerous. The weightage should only be on the just demand for an independent investigation and not on who is making it nor on the personality and history of the person or the group making it. Even if every member of Team Anna were to have a questionable past and dirty motives they should not be the criterion. When we are governed by parmentarians and ministers, a mjority of whom have questionable past and present (to boot), how can flimsy allegation on Team Anna become relevant?

Team Anna is losing its steam from his core issue for strong lok pal.I am afraid whether there is any sinister move behind these kind of activities and whether they are acting for any other party/organization to target congress. Are they behaving themselves as lok pal. If they have strong evidence, they should have straight away filed PIL on this issue.Only time alone will reveal it.

Shame on the Indian media ( most are culpable ) ! As Sooraj rightly mentioned above ,Media should concentrate on the proofs and find whether the allegations are correct or not , instead of focussing on team anna and its unity factor.

Team Anna is a cohesive group of well meaning people ,who have come together with no self-inetersts but common ideology and concern for the nation.
If anyone in the Indian media has any doubts regarding the intentions or objectives of Team Anna , why dont you call them call for an open debate witnessed by the people of India.
As Justice Katju rightly pointed out , Indian media has no intellectualism , nationalism or journalistic depth remaining in most of them . Sorry but this is what citizens we infer from the reportings.

it is strange that media is focussed on team anna and its unity not about the documents and arguments they are posing .first of all team anna is not a party and it is a group of people ,so diffrences are commen.

Media should conectrate on the prrofs and find whether the allegations are correct or not ,also team anna must move the same in the court.

"All that it takes for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing"
-it may be the case that Mr. Manmohan S. is not at all corrupt till the core of his heart, but nonetheless he still knows that his ministry was corrupted when he was in the coal ministry. So, instead of boasting about his clean record(if so) he should see that justice is brought upon those who are guilty. He should allow the case to be handled by an independent investigative body...afterall "Sanch ko Aanch kya"
--and btw great work by team Anna, our steps may tremble but if thats how we can progress ,,,we will...Jai Hind ...Jai bharat

It appears that Team A is loosing the focus. Slowly it is getting
reduced another opposition party which keep make accusations with no
predictable out come. Instead of holding one point agenda, Team Anna is
getting into specifics which will dilute the purpose of this valuable
group. Lokpal bill issue is not yet settled and they are on to webs of
complicated accusations. This will surely divert attention of left over
supporters and there is a danger of common man perceiving this group as
extension to main opposition party.

The sad part is, almost the entire Indian media has been bought out with the Congress financial clout . Thus Indian media will only talk ill about Team Anna and their efforts.
The documents presented by team Anna are not their own creation . Its all out in the open and if the media wishes , to sincerely follow media or journalistic ethics, there are many pertinenet questions for the media to ask the accused ministers including the PM himself .

RTI documents often can be used to speculate or form consipracy theories. In 1991 Dr Singh announced tax breaks to IT companies (of course according to CAG report this allowed the private sector to gain at the expense of exchequer). But the growth that the private secot brought in the next 20 years was un precedented. Was that corruption? Would we go back and take away the tax exemption given to those private firms? If we are going to judge the ministers based on CAG report, we better go back to Nehruvian socialistic era.

it is easy to blame everyone and anything on corruption etc. The system we have is
extremely complicated and tedious. For any decision to be made, there are many
levels of government, many departments that has to go through. With Anna and team witch hunting the country has come to a standstill. Any decision taken can be right or wrong based on individuals perspective. With a diverse country like ours,
there are many different perspectives. With the media, Anna team, opposition
politics, social activists, state governments, it is impossible for the country to move forward. India will forever be fighting and arguing internally with nothing to show for growth. It is sad that we are squandering our opportunity with all this activism.

Dr. Manmohan Singh is not above the law. A leader who is surrounded by and leads a
corrupt cabinet is equally (if not more) complicit in acts of corruption emanating from his cabinet under his leadership. Dr. Singh - show some spine and resign the position of PM because all you can do is to just stand as an impotent bystander to severe acts of corruption (why is stealing from the poor not treason?) by members of your cabinet against the millions of poor people of India? Team Anna is only doing the job of enlightened citizens - in a country where the >institutions of a government are severely impotent in preventing financial crimes against the people of India - they deserve a full support. If the government is clean,
then why oppose the SIT and independent investigations.

Responsible citizens need to “stay focused on the issues” - what is
important for the good of the nation, now and into the future – and
not be side-tracked into any blind alleys.
Thoughtful citizens will be alert to the fact that there will
inevitably be many powerful interests who do not want effective anti-
corruption laws, and that they will go to any extent – legal or
illegal - to frustrate any such attempt, whoever leads it or joins it!
Accusations and counter-accusations are not the way to establish the
truth. Impartial and independent investigation is! The charges are
serious enough to insist on just that, in the interest of preserving
democracy and law!!

Anna is a simple man with noble intentions. Politicians and the media who are inimical to Team Anna will always make a mountain of a mole hill. Today MOD Antony said that he is against petrol price hike. Can we take that Congress is in disarray. What is necessary is that Team Anna should have a spokesperson, who only will interact with the media.

Kiran Bedi was the first of Team Anna to be intoxicated with the power of mass protest against corruption blinding herself with self deception – conveniently taking it for granted that she can charge her sponsor full air fare even as she negotiates her maximum entitled discounts - does not let her shine by any standards of audit and accountability she holds others to.

Prashant Bhushan is one who appears to many that he may have lost his mind speaking and sounding out anti-national sentiments in one breath and apparently fighting for the nation in another. Constantly contradicting and reinterpreting his statements shows him not worthy of being the torch bearer or the whistle blower.

Kejriwal conveniently did not bring to public scrutiny funds running into millions of dollars that was collected and how it was being spent on account of India Against Corruption.

After all ceasar's wife etc... does not apply to Team Anna.

That Team Anna has miserably failed in the mandate they had enjoyed when they started needs no second mention. What message appears to come clear is their successive attempts to remain relevant and that they are driven by their own shrill rhetoric alone with not adequate substance to hold in a court of law even as a PIL.

Further it appears they are trying to perpetrate a Egypt or Libya or Syria kind of bloody revolution in this country reducing it to state even worse off than when we started in 1947 - so that the modern day imperialists (international corporates and war machine manufacturers).

Corruption is as old as the first man who walked on this planet. What is needed is to find effective ways to address it. Not shrill rhetoric. Not take sides. Nothing political will change it. Only sheer will of the people exercised at ballot. If we choose to have a better life in our own lifetime then we must have the power of recall of non-performing assets called "our representatives".

Kejriwal is so casual-says, an allegation was made against a minister and withdrawn when it transpired that the minister was not in charge of Coal Portfolio.
This kind of irresponsibility does not go well with the "we are guardians of India's morality and we are "above all"attitude of Kejriwal and Co.
It's also surprising that the media, print and electronic continue devoting so much space to the circus.
It's high time Annaji takes advice of politically savvy persons and form more effective strategies than the present Kejriwal/Bhushan/Bedi format of persistently throwing mud on all and sundry.
What Annaji started off is just great and can't possibly happen again-let this opportunity be not wasted by a replication of the typical middle class wail,"everyone is bad and everything is rotten" by the Circus.

This Anna Hazare team is running like a wild bull in a crowded place. No dignified talks coming out from their mouth. The poor guy (Mr Hazare) is being used as a shield and these Bhusans' and others calling the shots. Their intentions are wild and something beyond fighting corruption. The Lokpal is just a tool and corruption will not go just by adopting Lokpal as a law, like when strict criminal laws are in force, crime is increasing day by day. The people are to be educated, but these Anna team is in a hurry and just gives the impression of trying to catch a missing bus. They have their ambitions and the whole country is being misguided and misled by this group through their utterences in between.

The fact that two key Team Anna members are openly contradicting each
other shows how deeply the group is internally divided. The movement
that they started is fast losing steam thanks to the inconsistency,
arrogance and impatience of people like Mr. Kejriwal and lack of
leadership quality of its principal protagonist Mr. Anna Hazare. The
Chief himself is not being kept posted on what is going on, what the
future plan is and everyone is just shooting from his shoulders. There
is no denying that the movement is in disarray no matter how hard the
people within try to cover it up. Their focus has shifted and they are
now desperate to show exist. As a result we are witnessing them raking
up one issue after another when their principal demand appears far
from being met in the near future.

Anna Hazare is a person whom the media made into a demi god. His intentions might be good, but he lacks clarity on several issues and several of his ideas are undemocratic and barbaric. Incidents like how he used lot of physical force to eliminate alcohol from his home town, how he suggested Abhishek Singhvi should be hanged if found guilty of the recent tapes issue etc show why he doesn't deserve the status he is getting.

This is not good for a movement. Anna Hazare's team consisting of
eminent men,one lawyer of the Supreme Court, another a retired
High Police Officer, and the third a retired Executive officer of
the Govt of India have made Anna an ass. Their argument that Anna
does not know English may not hold water. Many leaders in public
life in India in the past did not know English and even now many
leaders of political parties do not know English but they had
managed to know them in Hindi or in their own language. This
clearly shows that Anna team have kept their leader in dark which
is nothing but stupid and nonsense. And that too a matter which
