Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Sunday said the decision of Team Anna to float a political party only indicates that their “movement against corruption has failed”.
Team Anna would not have decided to form a political party had its movement against corruption succeeded, Mr. Singh said while welcoming their move and added that anyone has a right to form a political party in the country. However, it remains to be seen as to what effect the new party will have on Indian politics and to what extent it will be able to influence the people, he said.
As far as the Congress party is concerned, it has nothing to fear from Team Anna’s proposed political party, he added.

The great Digvijay and Congress! you are celebrating a bit too early. The movement has just started. The people of India have seen that how shameless the politicians can be.How shamelessly they can treat national resources as their private properties and cause a loss of lacs of crores to the nation. How shamelessly they can celebrate their anniversaries of bad governance and policy paralysis when the farmers commit suicide.
The nation is in process of awakening.when it once awoke in the past,it overthrew the mighty British Imperialism. This time it will overthrow the imperialism of corruption.Sorry to say,but the days of corrupt and hence of congress which epitomizes corruption are numbered,Mr.Digvijay.And yes, with congress ,your days at power are numbered too.The countdown to your days at jail has just begun!
As an Indian, Mr. Digvijay Singh should be ahsmed that a movement against has failed. Instead, he is crows in triumph at the failure of a movement (any movement for that matter) that tries to curb corruption. When the policemand fails to catch a thief, the one that dances in joy is the thief!
It's not a victory for the Congress Party by any stretch of
imagination. It has totally exposed itself as the party of the corrupt,
by the corrupt, and for the corrupt; and it shall perish. The real
victory goes to people of India. They have seen how viscous and corrupt
the ruling cabal is. They can now choose an alternative if and when
they are provided with one.
Digvijay singh's utterences are meant for demoralising the Anti corruption movement from the very begining. It is not that Anna has failed, but the all the parliament members joined together and cheated the nation in not passing the Anti corruption bill submitted by team Anna.Shame on him to feel glee.I sincerly hope the people of the country particularly the youth will support the crusade launched by Team Anna.
Mr. Digvijay Singh's observation that Anna's movement against corruption has failed is nothing but a self serving statement, on behalf of his party's led government at the center. The active role played by him in castigating Anna and his team and their movement throughout, and the repeated betrayal by the government on promises to the agitating Anna and his team of bringing into existence a strong and effective Lokpal Bill through the parliament, have forced Anna to decide to float a political party to achieve their noble goals. I wish Mr. Digvijay Singh would at least come out now of his comforts and security of food and shelter guaranteed through being loyal to a family, and serve the nation and its citizens in a sense it should be, while also not targetting the people who are genuinely working for an all inclusive, sustainable and healthy Indian society.
The movement has not failed. The movement against corruption is a valuable asset of nation's maturity. But the problem is that it is only confined and slow in nature. It should be understood by Anna Team. It is yet to give a magic touch to the momentum of the movement, where common man's sentiment is prominently projected. The middle class can't be fully trusted.Mahatma Gandhi, the man of examplery simplicity swayed the clarity of his movement with an unimaginable print on simple poor man's mind.Anna Team has yet to harvest that Gandhian simplicity.
Digvijay,
I have 3 statements to make.
1. Well you and your party have failed the whole country. No failure
is half as disheartening as yours for that matter.
2. Your party, of all the political parties, will be more than happy
that the anti corruption movement failed, though its premature to say
that.
3. In a country where parties like yours throw away millions of black
money for vote bank manipulation. It would seem natural that clean men
does not stand a chance to win the biggest democratic joke that's
called election.
I don't have proof for any of my statements, but I bet every common
man like me know them as facts.
Only people successful themselves should judge success or failure of
others
It is better to make ones own assessment first. The assessment about
Anna's movement can finally be seen in 2014 election and it may be one's
own frustration to judge about 2014 election right now.
Mr. Digvijay Singh should remember that India didn't get its freedom
from British rule as soon as a protest voice/action was made. We want
freedom from corruption. The elderly political leaders are under the
illusion that they enjoy respect from people. The people fear
politicians because they preach non-violence but indulge only in
violence.
so this man is happy that the movement against corruption has failed.
Now he and his colleagues have more freedom to loot the country and
indulge in scams. With these kind of people in power ,India can never
become a super power. It is a shame.
Is it not truly sad that the General Secretary of the main Ruling
Party, which has been governing the country almost exclusively since
independence bar just a few years, should declare that Indian
citizens’ “movement against corruption has failed”, and then throw
down the gauntlet to the citizens of the nation to see if they can
change anything by forming a new political party?
India's economic prosperity is put seriously at risk by the current
problems in democracy, governance and corruption, [WHY NATIONS FAIL
research by Prof Acemoglu (MIT) & Prof Robinson (Harvard), 2012], and
the effect on society and people's happiness is there for everyone to
experience on a daily basis!
Will India ever be free of rule by a few rich and powerful families
(of native or foreign origin) for their personal power and wealth?
Will India ever become a developed nation??
You are totally wrong Digvijay, its not Team Anna but our Constitution, our system of Governance and our Judiciary which has failed, very soon our Republic itself will end up as Failed State. This is a land where Criminals become lawmakers, Judges take bribe to save a lawmaker who is already a Criminal, this is a land where we worship anything from a movie star to a rat, this is a land where our farmers commit sucide because it does'nt rain. This is a land where we try cases for 25 to 30years, spend 100's of Crores and cooly close the case for lack of evidence, but one thing that stands apart is, all this has happened with Congress at the top.
For once, I agree with Digvijay Singh. Not that his intentions are in any way noble, but Anna Hazare has made a royal mess of an excellent campaign he started last year. Of course, it's a pity that the movement has met with such a fate, and that Digvijay Singh is so gleeful about its failure.
Whole country knows what Congress has to fear about now! Are you trying
to say Digvijay that the Congress has defeated Team Anna and its
supporters in their fight against corruption? Yes, you have won
indeed...for corruption and for the corrupts! Hail Digvijay and hail the
Congress. Congratulations! Now go, buckle up because you have to win
another fight with the youth of this country, for votes. Let us see how
many crores you spend this time.
Politicians some times become become so shameless and so are the
citizens, It is true that you get what you deserve.
