Team Anna may launch party on October 2

Social activist Anna Hazare and his team are likely to announce their party and its constitution on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2.)

Amidst all the news-making by Baba Ramdev on his demand for return of black money stashed away abroad, the erstwhile Team Anna met here and decided to form a “preparatory committee” of up to 100 members to continue the fight against corruption albeit in a new avtaar.

On Sunday, a key member of the erstwhile Team Anna, Arvind Kejriwal, tweeted that the idea to form a party or give an alternative to the nation came from Mr. Hazare and if he did not want the team to do so, they were ready to step back. “This should not be taken as fissures in Team Anna,” said a member. “If Anna was silent, it is because that is the way he is. He self-introspects a lot and during that period he keeps to himself.”

The team members, who met at lawyer Prashant Bhushan’s residence, decided to keep away from the media till they firmed up their plans to form a political party.
