A five-member Telugu Desam Party delegation on Tuesday met Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and expressed their solidarity against creation of separate Telangana in Andhra Pradesh.

The delegation, led by TDP Politburo member and former Union minister K. Yerrannaidu, asked the Home Minister not to take (any) “hasty decision” while devising a roadmap on resolving the Telangana issue.

“It is a big issue. We have asked the Home Minister to include all stake holders from political parties and social organisations and take their views before announcing an expert committee on the issue,” he said.

On being asked about the outcome of the meeting, the TDP leader said, “Our meeting was satisfactory. Chidambaram gave a patient hearing and assured us to do the needful.”

While addressing a monthly press conference here on Monday, Mr. Chidambaram has said the Committee on Telangana will be announced this week and there will be no delay in the whole process related to the mechanism.

The Home Minister has said the government was on the job of drafting the terms and reference of the Committee and would announce it.
