The cash-strapped Railways has decided to extend the facility of Tatkal tickets to non-stop, long-distance Duronto Express trains.
To be applicable from April 1, 2012, accommodation and charges for the Tatkal ticket for different classes in Duronto would be the same as for other mail and express trains.
The Railways has also decided to incorporate “Aadhaar” as one of the proofs of identity for undertaking journeys on tickets purchased electronically or under the Tatkal scheme. With this, the number of identity proofs approved by railways has risen to nine.
