Zakir Hussain remanded in judicial custody

A Sri Lankan national, suspected to be an agent of an ISI operative, was remanded in judicial custody till May 13 on Thursday by a city magistrate court after being in police custody for three days.

Police arrested Zakir Hussain (37) on April 29 and seized the photographs of vital installations and counterfeit currency notes from him. He was suspected to be operating on the instructions of the Colombo-based ISI agent and had allegedly planned to attack foreign missions in southern India to sabotage important structures in the city.

After his arrest, he was produced before a magistrate who remanded him in judicial custody. On May 5, he was sent to police custody.
