Yuvaraj, the prime accused in the case relating to the alleged ‘honour’ killing of Dalit youth Gokulraj in Namakkal district and president of Dheeran Chinnamalai Forum, signed at the Tirunelveli town police station on Thursday as per the bail conditions.

After offering prayers from the main entrance of Swamy Nellaiyappar Temple, Mr. Yuvaraj, who was followed by his supporters in more than 10 cars, arrived at the police station at 9.30 a.m. and signed the register to fulfil the bail conditions.

Tirunelveli district president of Hindu Makkal Katchi S. Udaiyar greeted him even as Mr. Yuvaraj came out of the police station.

As the accused had to reach the police station situated near Paaraiyadi, an area where the Dalits live in large number, police had to identify the “vulnerable spots” en route and make adequate security arrangements in those places.

Police personnel in plainclothes were deployed near the lodge where he is staying.

When Mr. Yuvaraj preferred to stay in a place near Nanguneri in the district, the police refused permission saying that he should stay in a place within Tirunelveli city.

Security stepped up as he had to reach the station
