YSR Congress withdraws no-trust motion

March 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:42 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The YSRC on Friday withdrew its motion of no-confidence against Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao following a suggestion made by BJP Floor Leader P. Vishnu Kumar Raju.

The motion was to be taken up at the special sitting of the Assembly on April 4. The decision was announced by Leader of Opposition Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy during debate on Appropriation Bill.

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy said they were not under any false impression that they would unseat the Speaker with their strength of 67 in the House but it was an attempt to vent their hurt feelings following certain incidents in the House. He reminded that the YSRC had readily accepted the proposal of the ruling party for unanimous election of Mr. Rao as the Speaker in the past. They had all the faith and confidence in the Speaker and hope that he would not allow injustice happening to them (YSRC) again.

Earlier, Mr. Raju requested the YSRC on the floor of the House to withdraw its motion of no-confidence and stated that he had already discussed the issue with the Leader of the Opposition.
