Wrong policy of CBSE

April 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST

As temperature rises in May and June in north India, schools affiliated to CBSE work in the month of April. But CBSE schools in Tamil Nadu follow the same. Because of the unbearable heat, children fall sick and lose the power of concentration.

The portion that is completed in April has to be revised in June. I appeal to the CBSE to make changes according to the needs of the region.

Job mela racket

Job melas which are organised in and around the city are a good opportunity for the students.

Some of these job melas charge a heavy entrance or registration fee without providing suitable jobs. These kinds of fraudulent job melas must be prevented.

Clean channels

The recent spell of rain has exposed the weakness in maintenance of supply and drainage channels.

Shops have encroached upon water channels on every road, blocking free flow of water and leading to stagnation.

Rivulets, channels, canals, and streams are left uncared for. Summer is the time when we must dredge and strengthen water courses. Unless water is allowed to permeate beneath the ground, storage is impossible.

Judges should evolve

I agree with the Prime Minister that the judiciary should attain perfection as it grows powerful.

Judges should evolve an in-built self correction mechanism to prevent the rot from within. As observed by the Prime Minister, even the slightest wound to the judiciary would endanger the reputation of the nation.

EC illegible

Encumbrance certificates issued by the Tamil Nadu Registration Department is difficult to read because of the background colour. There is need to change the background colour and print the letters bold so that it is easy to read the contents.

Open police booth

Thippirajapuram is 8 km away from Kumbakonam. In the recent past, there are number of thefts and break-ins in Thippirajapuram and surrounding villages. The authorities should set a separate police booth to catch the culprits.

Air quality index

It is welcome that the Prime Minister has launched the National Air Quality Index to monitor quality of air in major urban centres. At the same time, the people should realise that using fireworks at the time of marriage and funeral processions, election rallies, and temple festivals affects the air quality. Prime Minister should instruct the authorities to prevent such practice.

Aadhaar rush

The report regarding “Heavy rush for Aadhaar card” at Tiruchirapalli City Corporation and its zonal offices, makes one wonder whether the warning by the Supreme Court only last month to the Centre and states that action will be taken against officials making Aadhaar card mandatory for any purpose, including for government subsidy such as LPG has fallen on deaf ears. While rejecting the Aadhaar scheme, the Parliamentary Committee raised issues of national and personal security, the source of power to gather, store and use of data about individuals and absence of a comprehensive data protecting law.

Without caring to come up with satisfactory answer to these queries, the government went ahead enrolling millions of people.

Aadhaar card

I am a senior citizen living in 22nd ward of Kumbakonam municipality. I was out of the country in 2010. So I could not register national population register (NPR) form but had submitted the same with the Municipality in 2013. Despite several visits to the Municipality, I am not able to get the Aadhaar card. I request the authorities to make arrangements for people like me to get Aadhaar cards with out any difficulty.

Reschedule train

While welcoming the Railways announcement of the operation of Yeswantpur-Rameswaram Weekly Summer Special via Salem, Namakkal, Karur, and Tiruchi, it will be better if the authorities rescheduled the arrival of the train at Yeswantpur before 9 p.m. instead of 11.30 p.m. Since the train terminates at Yeswantpur and not in Bengaluru City, people will find it difficult to reach their homes at odd hours.

Too many

speed-breakers

The Thuraiyur-Perambalur Road, which runs just 37 km, has more than 50 speed-breakers. This State highway is a vital link.

The speed-breakers are also tall. At night, many motorists are caught unawares and fall. I request the authorities to reduce the number of speed-breakers on this highway.

More flights needed

The article on lack of adequate domestic flights from Tiruchi is something that I was eagerly awaiting. Flights to Bengaluru and Mumbai are required and there should be good response. There is only one direct train from Tiruchi to Bengaluru and it is mostly full. Night buses are not comfortable. There are aspirations that Tiruchi should become a IT hub and for that to happen, direct connections to Bengaluru is a must.

I hope the appropriate authorities and airlines make an effort to have more domestic options from Tiruchi.

Rebuild bypass

The Thanjavur bypass is in a bad shape and vehicle users cross the road with much hardship. The road needs to be renovated before Mahamaham.
