Workshop popularises mineral mixture

The Veterinary College and Research Institute here organised a workshop for farmers to popularise the TANUVAS mineral mixture among them as this mixture substantially increases lactation in milch animals.

Veterinary College and Research Institute here has formulated a scheme to popularise TANUVAS mineral mixture among dairy farmers of the district in order to improve their income as this mixture substantially increases milk secretion in animals. Since the news on the efficacy of this mineral mixture is yet to reach the remote corners of the district, efforts are being taken to popularise its advantages to the farmers.

Under this programme, 500 progressive farmers from Melaseval, Sokkatan Thoppu, Thatchanallur, Kalakkudi, Ayansingampatti, Surandai, Sanganaperi, Vellalankulam, Duraisamiyapuram and Keelappuliyur villages were selected and each beneficiary was given 6 kg of mixture bags in three instalments to assess the milk production.

Three lectures and a discussion session were conducted for the benefit of the participants.

S. Prathaban, Dean, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli, released the workshop souvenir and appealed to the farmers to provide the mixture to the milch animals in prescribed quantity to increase the milk production and their income.

K. Ramalingam, Assistant General Manager, NABARD, Tirunelveli distributed the mixture to beneficiaries.

Faculty members V. Thanaseelaan, Professor and Head, Instructional Livestock Farm Complex, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli, S. Senthilkumar, Principal Investigator and Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education, C. Manivannan, Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education and N. Arulnathan, Assistant Professor, Department of Animal Nutrition, addressed the farmers.
