The work on construction of a new office for the Executive Officer of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment at the Thiruvahindrapuram Sri Devanatha Swamy Temple has begun.

At present, the office is situated on the Gedilam side of the temple, hidden from the public view.

Opposite the main entrance

The new structure, to be built at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh, will be opposite the main entrance to the temple.

However, a lot of earth works have to be done for its construction, because at the foothills of the Aushada hillocks, on which the Hayagrivar Temple has been situated, a rocky portion is jutting out into the approach road.

Since the road is too narrow at this point, there are traffic problems whenever temple functions and other rituals are held.

Therefore, the HR & CE Department has decided to chip off the protruding section of the hillocks to widen the road and construct the office.

A boclain has been deployed to remove boulders and soil before and after temple hours.
