Work on gold-plated “kolu” steps at Srirangam temple begins

The work of erecting gold-plated “kolu” steps at the Navarathri Kolu Mandapam in the Thayar Sannidhi of the Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple here began on Thursday.

Transport Minister K.N. Nehru inaugurated the work, which is sponsored by philanthropist V.R.Raghunath. The steps of gold plates would be set up at a cost of Rs.2.25 crore.

Tiruchi District Collector T.Soundiah, Chairman of the temple trustees board Thiayagarajan, Joint Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department Balasubramanian were present.
