Women on Monday celebrated the closure of IMFL outlets run by Tasmac (Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation).
Women distributed sweets in front of an outlet along Gandhiji Road that was locked following the government order.
Sixteen out of the 500 closed outlets are in Erode district – five in corporation limits, and the remaining in rest of the district.
In the corporation limits, the shops along VOC Park Road, Gandhiji Road, Chennimalai Road (opposite to Railway Junction), Kumalankuttai along Perundurai Road and a shop near KaalaI Maadu Silai Junction were closed.
Of the remaining, three shops, one each, along Kangeyam Road in Availpoondurai Town Panchayat, along Railway Station Road in Pasur, and Kunnathur Road in Perundurai Town Panchayat, and the rest at Kavundapadi, Komarayanaur, Ichipalayam, kagam, Kampuliampatti, along Perundurai-Vellode Main Road, Nallisellipalayam, and Avudayarparai were closed down.
