Woman seeks probe into husband’s death in Dubai

April 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Ramanathapuram:

Suspecting foul play in her husband’s death in Dubai, a young woman has appealed to the Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) to help unravel the mystery shrouding his death and secure the body.

Accompanied by her aged in-laws, M. Easwari (26) came here on Friday with her two daughters Niranjana Devi (10) and Jayadarshini (8) and submitted petitions to Collector K Nanthakumar and SP N. M. Mylvahanan, seeking their help to bring to book those who were behind the murder of her husband.

In her petition, she said her husband T Muthukumar of Meesal village in Mudukulathur taluk had gone to Dubai to work in a private company in December last and a local travel agent, who had arranged for the trip informed on Thursday afternoon that her husband had died.

She suspected foul play as her husband, a school drop out, had been complaining about harassment by co-workers and feared for his life. He wanted the local agent to arrange for his return, but the agent, who had received Rs. 80,000 to send him abroad refused to take up the issue with the employer in Dubai, she said.

Muthukumar last spoke to her on Wednesday night and asked her to immediately arrange for his return. “My husband sounded very scared,” Easwari said.

She appealed to the Collector to take up her case with the Government and help her get some compensation from her husband’s employer and the government to educate her daughters, studying standard V and III.
