Woman killed in Sivakasi cracker unit fire

A woman employee, S. Subbammal (70), of Injaar was killed in a fire accident at a cracker unit in Saminatham near Sivakasi on Tuesday.

The police suspect that the fire would have been caused by friction while making serpent eggs. No other worker was injured in the accident, Sivakasi Tahsildar, I. Mohammed Rafi Khan, said.

The woman was taken to the Government hospital in Sivakasi. The Malli police are investigating.
