Woman falls from train, gets run over

A 29-year-old woman from Chennai fell from a train in Katpadi station and died on the spot after being run over on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Government Railway Police, Bhuvaneshwari, 29, is from Anna Nagar in Chennai and had come to Katpadi to visit a temple with her husband. At noon, the couple came to the Katpadi station to return to Chennai via the Kovai Express.

“They had a reserved ticket. However, before she could board the train, it started moving and she fell down and was run over,” said a woman constable attached to the Katpadi police station. The woman’s husband, Manikandan, works in an IT company. The couple has a seven-year-old son.

A case has been registered.
