‘Wind up campaign at 6 p.m.’

No public meeting, procession would be allowed after 6 p.m. on Saturday when the electioneering for Virudhunagar district comes to an end.

District Election Officer V. Rajaraman said that no one should carry out any election campaign after 6 p.m.

All those cadres and supporters who were brought into the Assembly constituencies from outside Virudhunagar district should leave before 6 p.m. The police would conduct checks to verify whether any outsider is staying at marriage halls, community halls, guest houses and lodges.

All the vehicle permits given to political parties, including star campaigners, would become invalid after 6 p.m. Each candidate would be given permit for only three vehicles for the use of candidates, their agents and party workers.

Local cable operators should broadcast the candidates’ advertisements, audio messages, SMS and through social media only up to 6 p.m., he added.
