Widespread rainfall

Vellore received an average rainfall of 29.84 mm during the 24-hour period ending 8.30 a.m. on Thursday. Gudiyatham received the highest rainfall in the district – 52.30 mm, followed by Alangayam – 52 mm. Vellore received 43.90 mm, while Melalathur recorded 41.80 mm rain. Rainfall in other parts of the district: Tirupattur – 38.10 mm, Arcot – 33 mm and Ambur – 27.20 mm.

Almost all parts of Tiruvannamalai received widespread rain on Wednesday and Thursday. In the 24 hours ending 8 a.m. on Thursday Tiruvannamalai received 28.4 mm. Rain in other taluks in mm: Chengam-25.6; Thandarampattu-39; Polur-17.4; Arani-30.8; Cheyyar-28 and Vandavasi-24.
