The wholesale price of egg in Namakkal Zone was reduced by 10 paise to be fixed at Rs. 3.60 here on Saturday.

Officials of the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) said that due to drop in demand and increase in egg production, the price was reduced.

They added that the price of Rs. 3.40 on September 1 was increased to Rs. 3.85 on September 17 before dropping to Rs. 3.70 on September 22.

Temporary

Officials added that the drop in price was temporary and the price was expected to rise in the coming days.

Festival season will improve demand for eggs and the price would go up, they added. The average wholesale price of egg in September is Rs. 3.60 which is better than the average price of Rs. 2.97 per egg in the corresponding month in 2015.
