Wholesale price of egg drops by 10 paise

The wholesale price of egg dropped by 10 paise and stood at Rs. 3.30 here on Saturday.

Officials at the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC), Namakkal Zone, said that the price dropped due to fall in demand for eggs due to festival season. They said that the price is expected to rise in the third week of January and continue in upward trend.

Loading price

The loading price of egg is, Chennai Rs. 3.75, Bangalore Rs. 3.70, Mumbai Rs. 3.88, Hyderabad Rs. 3.50, Kolkata Rs. 4, Delhi Rs. 3.75, Hospet Rs. 3.30 and Ahmadabad Rs. 3.80. The wholesale average price of egg in January in the past 10 years are, Rs. 1.46 in 2004-05, Rs. 1.27 in 2005-06, Rs. 1.65 in 2006-07, Rs. 1.58 in 2007-08, Rs. 1.87 in 2008-09, Rs. 2.53 in 2009-10, Rs. 2.82 in 2010-11, Rs. 2.83 in 2011-12, Rs. 3.36 in 2012-13 and Rs. 3.43 in 2013-14.
