Kasturirangan report: State seeks 15 more days

The State government has sought another 15 days to submit its comments on the K. Kasturirangan report on the conservation of Western Ghats to the Centre.

Minister for Forests and Environment B. Ramanath Rai and Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra held a meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday and decided to submit State’s comments on the report to the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests before April 30. The Centre had asked for the report before April 15. The State Cabinet meeting on April 17 will take a final decision on the government’s stand. The Cabinet subcommittee on the Kasturirangan report had visited a few Western Ghats districts and reviewed the implications of the report.
