Tamil Film Producers Council president and actor Vishal on Friday said that the next big reform in the Tamil film industry would be to renegotiate fees charged by companies that provide digital projection solutions.

Speaking at the audio launch function of ‘ Kee, ’ actor Vishal said that film associations from the southern States will soon get together and take a decision about the fee structure.

“For the first time, all four south Indian industries are going to take an important decision on January 23-24 regarding the fee structure around Qube. No matter how many obstacles come our way, we will not back off. We will only pay what is fair,” said Mr. Vishal.

The reduction of fee will be a huge boost for small producers. “It is not that we want to reduce the fee that is being charged just for the sake of it. This is what we can pay,” said Mr. Vishal.

He promised that all long-pending issues such as renegotiation of fee charged by companies such as Qube and unauthorised broadcast of movies via pirated video discs will likely be solved by May this year.

Kee ’ is produced by Michael Rayappan, who filed a complaint against actor Silambarasan for not honouring his commitment and delaying the release of his previous film, ‘AAA.’ Mr. Vishal said that a decision would soon be taken on the complaint.
