The Special Court hearing the disproportionate assets case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Friday dismissed a plea to recall a witness.
The court dismissed the application filed by Sasikala, the second accused, stating that the witness, Balaji, an auditor, was cross-examined in detail earlier and there was no need for recalling the witness. Another application was moved seeking recall of 10 other witnesses on behalf of V.N. Sudhakaran, the third accused.
Saravana Kumar, advocate for Sudhakaran, argued that the recalling of 10 witnesses was necessary as he could not cross-examine them on earlier occasion due to death in his family.
However, Special Public Prosecutor B.V. Acharya argued that the application was moved only with an intention to drag on the trial. The court adjourned the case to June 8.
