“Unless Tamil Nadu is freed from AIADMK and DMK, people will continue to suffer”
Discounting the possibility of expansion of the BJP-led alliance post-poll, party president Rajnath Singh on Friday affirmed that the National Democratic Alliance would secure a clear and comfortable majority.
“The NDA will not only cross the magic figure of 272 but secure around 300 seats. I do not think there will be need for any more allies,” he said responding to a question, at a press conference here, whether the NDA lost a potential post-poll ally in the AIADMK in the wake of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s criticism of the BJP at her recent meetings.
Mr. Singh rebutted her criticism of the BJP and the Gujarat model of development. “The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation has appreciated development in Gujarat and so has a United States parliamentary research committee,” he claimed.
“I do not want to make a comparison of the development indices of Tamil Nadu and Gujarat,” he said when pressed for comment on the Chief Minister’s assertion that Tamil Nadu had fared better.
