Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who was unanimously elected as the general secretary of the AIADMK for the seventh time, said victory after victory in the elections had left her party with no enemies in the political field.

"In the political field there is no trace of enemies. They have disappeared into oblivion," she said quoting Bharathidasan's line "yengal pagaivar engo marainthar."

Ms Jayalalithaa who has been holding the post for the last 26 years, said the AIADMK's victory in the 2011 Assembly polls and a sweep in the subsequent local body elections winning all the Municipal Corporations and majority of the municipalities was a history.

"Again in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, we have created history that cannot be replicated by anyone and we are left with a situation where we have no enemies," she said amidst cheering of partymen who had assembled at the AIADMK headquarters.

Ms Jayalalithaa said the party had the overwhelming support of the people of Tamil Nadu and they had acknowledged only the AIADMK as their party.

"Our only motive is to work for the people and their welfare,” she said and urged the partymen to work unitedly.

"There is no force that can defeat us. We will reap victory after victory and the credit will go to you (the partymen)," she said.

While thanking the partymen for reposing faith on her and electing her as the general secretary, she said she was moved by their gesture.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa also announced candidates for the by election to the local body polls including Mayor election to three Municipal Corporations.

Coimbatore City unit secretary Ganapathy P. Kumar is the candidate for Coimbatore Municipal Corporation. Tirunelveli district women's wing assistant secretary E. Bhuvaneswari is the candidate for Tirunelveli Municipal Corporation and Tuticorin district women's wing assistant secretary A.P.R. Antony Graci is the candidate for Tuticorin Municipal Corporation.
