“I can’t act like DMK president M. Karunanidhi and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and I don’t have the qualities of corruption. People have the choice of electing good people or corrupt politicians before them in the Assembly election and they will make a wise choice,” DMDK founder Vijaykanth said here on Tuesday.

Addressing an election rally in support of DMDK-PWF-TMC combine, Mr. Vijaykanth said the DMK and the AIADMK have ravaged the State and have managed to ensure that they were never confronted by other parties. There was no opposition to their power but now the DMDK-PWF-TMC combine has come together as a viable alternative, he said. Alleging that it was only the media that was projecting as if the fight was between the AIADMK and the DMK only, Mr. Vijaykanth said in reality it was the DMDK-PWF-TMC combine that was emerging as the people’s choice. Comparing himself with his principal rivals for the post of Chief Minister, Mr. Vijaykanth said neither could he act like Mr. Karunanidhi and Ms. Jayalalithaa nor did he posses corrupt qualities. He presented a clean image and qualities for the position. Commenting on the AIADMK regime of the past five years, Mr. Vijaykanth said that Ms. Jayalalithaa brooked no criticism even from the Leader of the Opposition. If the welfare of the people was under strain then how could one keep shut? he asked. However, the DMDK- PWF combine would provide the people transparent and clean governance, he promised.
