Water supply cut to villages that supported DMK, alleges MLA

Drinking water supply to several village pancahyats in Thoppampatti union remained suspended for the past four days as the people in the areas cast their votes en masse to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, alleged Oddanchatram MLA R. Chakkarapani.

In a petition submitted to Palani Sub-Collector Vineeth here on Monday, he said that representatives of local bodies snapped water supply to Thalayam, Vada Paruthiyur, Maanur and nearby villages in Thoppampatti union in Palani block, which came under Oddanchatram Assembly constituency.

Representatives of the local bodies, including ward members and panchayat presidents, who belonged to the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam had been harassing the people after elections. The officials too could not take any action against them, he charged.

The Sub-Collector assured him that he would take action in this regard and resume water supply to the villages within two days.
