Residents of Mappillaiurani panchayat thronged the Collectorate here on Monday demanding regular supply of drinking water.
The affected people from Aasaithambi Nagar, Vannarpettai and Ramdassnagar of this panchayat sought the intervention of the district administration to ensure supply of water at regular intervals.
In a petition to Collector M. Ravikumar, the residents said despite taking this issue to the attention of the district administration, Block Development Officer and president of the panchayat several times, no concrete action had been taken to solve this crisis.
They said when they approached the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, the officials claimed the water tank in the panchayat was not under their control and the residents were told to approach the panchayat president to solve this problem.
The BDO said the delay in supply was due to failure in motor pump.
