Water inflow into Hogenakkal touched 14,500 cusecs after rain in Karnataka.

Officials said 10,500 cubic feet per second (cusecs) of water were discharged from Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam in Karnataka on Wednesday and the water reached the Stanley Reservoir in Mettur on Saturday.

The inflow increased from 6,375 cusecs on Friday to 10,148 cusecs here on Saturday morning following which coracle operations were brought to a temporary halt.

Over 200 coracles were not operated despite the weekend traffic owing to safety protocols. Coracle operations may resume after inspections by the authorities once the water level falls.

The current water level in Mettur dam is 49.23 feet against the Full Reservoir Level (FRL) of 120 feet while the storage is 17.331 tmc against the dam’s capacity of 93.470 tmc. Currently, 2,000 cusecs of water were released for drinking water purpose.
