Warden hacked to death

A warden posted at Government Adi-dravidar Boys’ Hostel at Chepakkam was waylaid and hacked to death by a gang at Memathur near Virudhachalam in the district on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Rajendiran (38) of Kuppanatham near Virudhachalam.

Police said that Rajendiran was going to Virudhachalam in a mini lorry, when the gang, armed with sickles, waylaid waylaid him at Memathur and hacked him to death.

Mini lorry driver Ayappan immediately informed Rajendiran’s relatives.

On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Virudhachalam Government Hospital for post-mortem.

Irate relatives of Rajendiran resorted to a road roko in Virudhachalam.

They demanded immediate arrest of the assailants.

Senior police personnel pacified them following which they withdrew their protest. A case has been registered in this regard.
