Student from Delhi secures first rank

A student of Delhi, Kalash Gupta, has secured the first rank in the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2018, the results of which were released on Friday.

VITEEE was held from April 4 to 16 in 124 cities across India as well as Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat and Qatar. The entrance exam was held for admission to the various B. Tech programmes offered by VIT at its Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amaravati campuses, a press release said.

A total of 2,12,000 candidates had registered for VITEEE-2018. The following is the list of top 10 rankholders: Sarikonda Ananda Ramarao of Telangana bagged the second rank, while Anirudh Panigrahi of Odisha stood third, Sai Anirudh M of Karnataka fourth, Shubham Kar of Jharkhand fifth, Shubham Agarwal of West Bengal sixth, Pranav Goyal of Chandigarh seventh, Sanchit Agrawal of Delhi eighth, S. Vishal of Tamil Nadu ninth and Anmol Gupta of Uttar Pradesh bagged the tenth rank.

The results were released through the website – www.vit.ac.in – and admissions would be on merit, based on the marks obtained by the candidates in VITEEE.

The counselling for candidates, who have obtained ranks up to 8,000 would be held on May 9. Counselling for those with ranks from 8,001 to 14,000 would be held on May 10 followed by counselling on May 11 for those who secured ranks from 14,001 to 20,000. The counselling would be held simultaneously in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amaravati, the release said.

Under the G.V. School Development Programme, the Central and the State board toppers would be given 100% fee waiver for all four years. Candidates with ranks up to 50 would be given 75% tuition fee waiver, while those with ranks up from 51 to 100 would be given a 50% tuition fee waiver and those with ranks 101 to 1,000 would be given 25% tuition fee waiver, the release added.
