VIT celebrates university, sports day

VIT University on Monday celebrated University Day and Annual Sports Day. Speaking on the occasion, Chancellor G. Viswanathan urged the government to increase its expense on school education and higher education.

He stressed the need to provide quality education to youth as those aged below 25 years account for 50 per cent of the country’s population.

He reiterated the need to grant autonomy to higher education institutions.

He said the university was focussing more on research and publishing research articles.

The Chancellor’s gold medal, cash prize and certificate were given to Damini Agarwal of B.Tech Bio Informatics , according to a press release.
