The Tirupur Kerala Club arranged a special ‘Vishukkani’, the most important element of the festival which literally means that the first thing seen on the day, for the Malayali population.
“We organised the ‘Vishukkani’ in a common place as many people staying here has been finding it difficult to arrange the key ingredients needed for the ‘Vishukkani’ like yellow konna flowers (Cassia fistula), metal mirror, arecanut, betel leaves, and select fruits due to lack of its adequate availability,” said N. Balakrishnan, president of the Club.
Around 100 families utilised the opportunity provided by the Club to see the ‘Vishukkani’, which was a ritual arrangement of the said auspicious articles that were intended to signify prosperity.
The Club also gave ‘Vishukaineettam’, the tradition of giving money, and sweets to people.
Many of the houses had arranged Vishu Sadhya (feast).
Heavy rush was witnessed at Gururvayoorappan and Ayyappa temples in the city in connection with Vishu.
