Villagers belonging to economically poor background from Iluppaioorani in Kovilpatti thronged the Collectorate here on Monday, seeking free house site pattas.
In a petition submitted to Collector M. Ravikumar, the villagers said they did not own houses and demanded house site pattas.
During 1986, land pattas were allotted to 148 government employees at their panchayat on survey number 542 /1 b and unoccupied portion of land under this survey number was still available and the authorities could provide it to them, the petitioners said.
