Angry villagers ransack liquor shop

July 18, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:03 am IST - THENI:

Villagers ransacked a TASMAC-run IMFL retail outlet at Boodhipuram and picketed Boodhipuram-Theni Road, demanding arrest of three motorcycle riders who knocked down a school boy on Sunday.

They alleged that the three persons, who rode the motorcycle in an inebriated state, knocked down the boy while he was returning home from a shop.

The boy, Vinodh, died on the spot. When the police found fault with the boy, the incensed villagers refused to receive the body and picketed the road.

Meanwhile, an irate mob, ransacked the TASMAC outlet in the village, as they felt liquor was the main cause for the death of the boy.

Later, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
