Vikaruddin’s father lodges complaint against police

Mohammed Ahamed, father of alleged terror operative Vikaruddin who was shot dead by police along with four others, approached the Alair police on Saturday urging them to register cases against the policemen responsible for his son’s killing.

Describing the killing of his son and four others as fake encounter, he filed a petition seeking registration of criminal cases against the policemen responsible for their death.

Speaking to The Hindu here on Saturday, Alair Sub-Inspector K. Raghavendar said that Mr. Ahamed submitted a single-page petition to him in this regard. He was accompanied by Imtiyaz Amjad, brother of Syed Amjad, who was also killed along with Vikaruddin.Vikaruddin’s father also urged the government to order an inquiry into the killings by the Central Bureau of Investigation. They were accompanied by three lawyers. Vikaruddin, Syed Amjad, Mohammad Zakir, Izhar Khan and Mohamad Haneef, all undertrial prisoners facing terror cases, were shot dead by escort policemen on April 7. Vikaruddin allegedly snatched a firearm from an escort policeman and fired at the police party while the other policemen returned fire killing the five prisoners.
