Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) president A. Vijayakanth has filed a petition in the Madras High Court bench here to quash an FIR pending against him in the Kottar police station.

The FIR was registered based on a complaint submitted by the public prosecutor of the district sessions court, Kanyakumari, on the charges that Mr. Vijayakanth assaulted him with an intent to murder him inside the court hall on July 1 this year.

In his petition, Mr. Vijayakanth denied the charges made against him and claimed that the case was ‘falsely fabricated against him with a political motive’. The charges made against the petitioner are ‘exaggerated and concocted’, he claimed.
