DMDK leader Vijayakant on Thursday assailed Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and her party for inflicting sufferings on people brought for her public meetings by confining them like cattle and preventing their movement even for easing themselves or drinking water.
It was a height of atrocity, and the people will teach a lesson. The DMDK would take up the issue with the Human Rights Commission Mr. Vijayakant said, campaigning for candidates of DMDK-People's Welfare Front at Veerappanchathiram in the city.
He ridiculed the AIADMK saying it had trivialised the lives of those who had died due to conduct of meetings in hot conditions by offering compensations of a few lakhs of rupees.
Rather than doing anything worthwhile for the State for the last 35 years, the DMK and AIADMK were now blaming each other, he said.
Mr. Vijayakant, during his speech, urged the people to be familiar with the symbols of the DMDK-PWF constituents, in the presence of his party candidates for Erode East, Modakurichi, and Bhavani: Pon Serman, Ramesh and Gopal respectively, Erode West MDMK candidate Murugan, and Perundurai segment TMC candidate Shanmugam.
