Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol. Thirumavalanan on Monday met Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko at the latter’s office ‘Thayagam’.

During the hour-long meeting, Mr. Thirumavalavan explained the activities of the Pattali Makkal Katchi in the last one year and also the attack on Dalits at Marakkanam on April 25. He presented video footage and some documents to Mr. Vaiko.

Saying that he gave a patient hearing to the VCK leader, Mr. Vaiko said he would lead a delegation of the party and meet the affected people in Marakkanam. “I would like to make an appeal to leaders not to make inflammatory speeches that might sow seeds of hatred among the youth. On behalf of the MDMK, we are willing to do anything to achieve peace and amity among the people…I walked across the State campaigning for a caste-free society. Harsh words that hurt the sentiments of people might lead to unrest and disastrous consequences,” he said.
