Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko has accused Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rajesh Lakhani of being biased towards the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam as he turned a blind eye when the party freely transported money for “buying votes”. “The State has not seen a worst CEO like Mr. Lakhani,” he said while addressing wayside election rallies in Tirupattur and here on Friday. “We thought former CEO Praveen Kumar was bad but he seems to be good compared to Mr. Lakhani,” he said.

To avoid suspicion, the AIADMK leaders had stacked currencies in the houses of their friends and relatives but the CEO was reluctant to seize the money, he charged.

Mr. Vaiko also launched a blistering attack on Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for “causing the death of six persons after summoning them for her election rallies in Virudhachalam and Salem and making them wait for long”.

Honest politician

Hailing the front’s Chief Ministerial candidate Vijayakant as a honest politician, who joined hands with the PWF after saying refusing Rs. 500 crore and 80 seats offered by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, he said that the people of the State could be assured of a good coalition governance if they voted the front to power. The DMDK-PWF combine would ensure a transparent and corruption-free government if it was voted to power, he said, adding they would also liberate the State from the menace of liquor and the two Dravidian parties.
