MDMK general secretary Vaiko was detained by Malaysian immigration officials at the Kuala Lumpur airport on the ground that he was “on the list of dangerous persons posing a threat to the country.”

He will be deported to India on Friday night along with his secretary Arunagiri. “Mr. Vaiko went there to attend the marriage reception of the daughter of Deputy Chief Minister of Penang State P. Ramasamy. The Malaysian embassy had granted a visa last week,” a press release from the MDMK headquarters said.

When he landed at the Kuala Lumpur airport, he was informed of the ban on his entry into Malaysia and taken to immigration officials. Mr. Vaiko told partymen in Chennai that the officials asked him questions about the LTTE and said cases were pending against him in Sri Lanka. But he denied the allegations.
