The District Rural Development Agency has proposed upgrade of group houses under the Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) here in the district. The programme is in pursuant of the State government's announcement in the budget to upgrade group houses under the IAY, Jawahar Rozgar Yojana, Rural Landless Employment Guarantee Programme (RLEGP) and National Rural Employment Programme.
The programme envisages financial assistance for both kucha and pucca houses and the beneficiaries ought to take up repair works.
Those houses upgraded under group housing upgrade schemes, Kuchha houses upgrade scheme and the MLA local area development scheme (MLALADS) would not be covered.
The following reparation works would be given priority in the descending order: reparation of roofs, ceiling; replacement or reparation of windows, doors; plastering of cracks on walls; reparation of floors, white-wash works; and miscellaneous reparations.
According to a release, beneficiaries may procure application forms from the Collectorate or Panchayat Union offices. The last date for submission of applications has been extended up to February 28.
